The Astrological Sun Signs: The Details of Aquarius

The eleventh of the sun signs is Aquarius, and those born between January 20th and February 18th are under its influence. Aquarians are independent, analytical, and original. They have strong dislikes and set opinions. To truly understand this sign, you must understand the detail commonly associated with the astrological sun sign of Aquarius.

The Aquarius Personality

Most Aquarians are assertive, progressive, and inventive in many aspects of their lives. If you are an Aquarius, you are likely blessed (or plagued, as the case may be) by wishes, hopes, and dreams. You are probably a little too idealistic, and this can cause you to be disappointed in humanity at times. Despite this, you have a love of people, though more in an abstract sense. You tend to remain a little detached in your own relationships, probably because you are too focused on the larger issues of the world.

Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus. The first ruler of the universe was Uranus, Greek god of the sky. This gives Aquarius an appreciation for the bigger picture. Uranus was also the first of the modern planets to be discovered, and is so connected to change and the unexpected. It is the planet of invention, and of the marrying of science with sorcery. This tends to describe most Aquarians fairly well.

The symbol of the sign of Aquarius is the waterbearer. The waterbearer gives a gift that flows freely and without restraint. This represents the creation and giving of life. Aquarians are in tune with this concept and willingly give of themselves. But, like the waterbearer, they are too detached from the intricacies of life to truly understand them.

The glyph, or written symbol, of Aquarius are two ridged unbroken lines, one above the other. This represents the water which flows from the container the waterbearer holds. The lines are symbolic of electric energy, universal thought, and the great wisdom to be found in the future. All these things the true Aquarius understands.

The Correspondences of Aquarius

The sign of Aquarius rules the circulatory system, the shins, and the ankles. Because of this, Aquarians are prone to injuries of the ankle, especially breaks and sprains. The shins may develop varicose veins, and hardening of the arteries tends to be more common in those born under the sign of Aquarius.

Wednesday is considered the luckiest day for Aquarians, and the numbers one and seven tend to be the most powerful. Amethyst, a stone that brings faithfulness in love and grants prescience, is most commonly associated with the sign of the waterbearer.

Some other correspondences include:
  • Electric blue, or the clear blue of the sky
  • Cities such as Buenos Airies, Moscow, Salzburg, and Stockholm
  • Countries such as Ethiopia, Russia, and Sweden
  • All fruit trees
  • Flowers such as the orchid
  • Uranium and other radioactive metals
  • Large birds
Many of the ideas associated with Aquarius revolve around intelligence and originality. Those born under this sign can be innovation, unconventional, and even eccentric. This makes them a target for the narrow-minded. Because Aquarians are a little...different...they tend to get themselves into unusual situations and associate with strange individuals. This sometimes means they need help to get themselves out of whatever they got themselves into. Close friendships, while sometimes difficult for an Aquarian to maintain, can be beneficial for connecting to the world on a personal level. Also, it never hurts to have a good friend to pull you out of a slightly odd situation.
